Bird watching

Kaamanen is known for it’s rich variety of birds.

Pine Grosbeak (Pinicola enucleator), Siberian Jay (Perisoreus infaustus), Gray-Headed Chickadee (Poecile cinctus) and Willow Grouse (Lagopus lagopus) thrive in the area, as well as species of waterfowl and shorebirds.

We feed the birds every day at bird feeders behind the main building.

You may also bring seeds with you into the forest and stay silent so you can photograph our small friends.

The closest bird-watching tower is located in Toivoniemi, about 15 km south of Neljän Tuulen Tupa.

The tower is 12 meters high and is located at the mouth of thee river Kaamasjoki, next to nesting birds.
